In this beloved musical from Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, the newly widowed Anna Leonowens travels to Bangkok with her son Louis to become the schoolteacher in the employ of the King of Siam in 1860. Although the king wishes to be seen as a modern king, the ensuing conflict of wills yields tragic consequences that neither Anna nor the king foresee.
