Advanced Performance Workshop 2020
Brundage Park Playhouse proudly announces its 39th season of summer performing arts education with the return of our “Advanced Camp”. The Advanced Performers Workshop, or APW, is a more intensive alternative to our regular Summer Stages program. The three-week session will culminate with a two-show performance weekend, not only for family and friends, but the general public as well! APW is only open to students who are already 12 years of age or who will be entering 7th –11th grade in the 2020-2021 school year. Admission is by audition/interview only. *Students who have attended APW previously, need not audition.
What to Expect at BPP’s Advanced Performers Workshop
The camp will take place at the Community Center on Calais Road, next to the Randolph Library. Much like our regular Summer Stages program, APW students will spend part of their time with us in rehearsal for whatever show they are currently working on, and part of their time in workshops on various aspects of theater arts. Due to the more intensive nature of this program, admission is determined by an interview with a staff member, as well as a voice and movement audition.
Please call the theater at (973) 989-7092 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org to set up an audition appointment. This audition is part of the learning experience we’re hoping to create for your child. Your child will initially be auditioning for admission to the program. All students will be expected to prepare a song and should be prepared to learn a simple dance combination and cold read from “sides” that will be supplied at the audition. Auditions for specific roles in the camp production will be held during the first week of camp. There is a 20-student limit to the session.
This is a 3 week camp which goes from July 13 through July 31 (Performances on July 31 and August 1). Campers must be available all three weeks and for both final performances (Friday and Saturday)
What theatrical performance experience would be complete without an audience? At the end of the session we present two performances. Tentatively, performances will be held at 5:30 pm on Friday and 11 a.m. on Saturday morning at Brundage Park Playhouse on Carrell Road.
Our staff is comprised of dedicated and talented individuals who have studied the arts and whose skill sets qualify them to provide our students with a comprehensive learning experience. Their impressive resumes include all aspects of performance, with particular emphasis on dance, acting and music. As a result of our staff’s efforts, many of our students have gone on to perform in professional arenas.
